About the Counselor

mo It is my honor to be the school counselor at Peabody!  This is my 12th year of education.  I was a classroom teacher for five years and have been a school counselor, at the middle and high school level, for the past six years.  I was raised in Dresden, TN where I moved after I was adopted at one month old.  I attended Dresden High School and graduated in 2004.  I then attended the University of Tennessee at Martin where I double majored and in 2009 received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and a Bachelor of Science degree in Child and Family Studies.  In 2015, I received my Master of Science degree in Education with a concentration in School Counseling from UT Martin.

I am a mom to two beautiful daughters.  Adelyn McClaire is a sassy spit-fire who is 5 and is in Kindergarten at Trenton Elementary.  Maedyn Grace is my laid back, dancing, loves all 3 year old who is in daycare.  Both of my girls love big bows, ruffle pants, baby dolls, and a shopping trip with momma!

I am passionate about education, college readiness, career readiness, and students having opportunities in all facets of life.  It is important that students know about options inside and outside of Gibson County, chase those opportunities, and are prepared for life after high school.  As your school counselor, I am actively involved in organizations and trainings that provide Peabody with the knowledge about early opportunities such as Advanced Placement, CLEP, dual enrollment, internships, and industy certifications for students.

I have received extensive training on social and emotional development of adolescents including: suicide prevention, crisis response, bullying, mental health, conflict resolution, and peer relationships.  My favorite part of my job is celebrating student success and how it looks different for each student.

In my spare time you can find me at a Peabody sporting event, at the beach (my happy place), cheering for the UT VOLS & St. Louis Cardinals, reading the lastest novel, catching up on shows on my DVR, shopping, traveling, spending time with friends and family, eating a good sushi roll, & making unforgettable memories with my girls.
