          For the 2010-11 school year, Peabody will convert to a trimester schedule and will change the way in which it's graduates are recognized/honored.
          To learn more about these changes, please click on the "Trimesters" tab which is under the "Links of Interest" navigation bar on the left-hand side of this page.
          There is also an updated PowerPoint presentation on the New Graduation requirements for this years freshmen and every class to follow. Click on the "New Graduation Requirements" tab in order to view that one.
          When the "file download" box pops up, click option #2 to view either presentation.

The Peabody FFA Alumni are having a fundraiser for students that have earned state FFA Degrees and students who have been involved in FFA Career Development events so that they may attend the Tennessee FFA Convention in Gatlinburg at the end of this month.

The annual Career Development Conference was held in Jackson, Thursday, March 11. Peabody and ten other west Tennessee  schools sent their "Jobs for Tennessee Graduates" teams to compete.
Peabody's Ganiel Williams, Shelby Johnson, Heather Frazier,  Dezerae Graves, and Raechelle Bolden sang the National Anthem to begin the luncheon. The following PHS students won or placed in their events and will travel to Nashville in April to compete at the State Career Conference:

The Western Region FFA Meeting was held Tuesday, March 2, at Liberty High School, in Jackson.
  • Peabody junior Olivia Fernandez was elected President of the Western Region of the Tennessee FFA Association. She will be inducted Thursday, April 29, at the West Tennessee Awards Banquet, to be held at the Jackson Civic Center.
  • Senior Taylor Barker placed third in West Tennessee with his fruit production proficiency.
 

      
The Beta Club kicked off their "Shamrock" campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) on Thursday, February 25. Emily Garrett from MDA spoke at the monthly club meeting.
All proceeds will, of course, go to the MDA and "Jerry's Kids".

Seniors Greer Barnes and Annie Williams have been named semifinalists in the National Beta Club Scholarship Program. There were initially over 700 candidates and Greer and Annie are now in the top 265. Winners will be announced at the end of March.
Regardless of the outcome, these two students have established themselves as top tier nationally. Congratulations, and Good Luck!

There is an opportunity here for any student interested in the art of moviemaking. Areas covered include set-building, writing scripts, acting, and the actual making of a video.

UPDATE:
TSSD has some students involved with the youtube space show "Polarity". They recently submitted their work for a youtube "Green Screen" contest. 
There were 157 entries competing for 6 awards:  two for 'Best Overall', two  for 'Best Original Idea', and two for 'Best Low Budget'. 
The "Polarity" entry won one of the best low budget awards!  With the award came $726 worth of prizes including a huge green screen, 4 light kits, stands, and computer software! 
10 students from Trenton are involved with this project and hopefully more on the way.  Episodes 1,2, and 3 are on youtube now:
